Obility’s Approach to Implementations & Migrations

More often than not, implementing a new instance also involves some level of data migration. For example, when a client wants to implement and launch a MAP, data from both the CRM and MAP must sync correctly. 

We approach platform implementations and platform migrations with the same strategy, starting with a meeting to understand your overall goals:

  • Why are you migrating from one platform to another? Is it due to platform capabilities, better scalability or cost? 
  • What are your goals for implementing a CRM and/or MAP?
  • How do you plan to use it?
  • If migrating due to an acquisition, which platform or instance will be the final one? What are your goals for combining data?

Recommendations & Review

After completing the assessment, we provide detailed recommendations (migrate, deprecate, need clarification, etc.) and review them with you. Although we handle the heavy lifting during the assessment, your input is crucial to ensure our recommendations align with your objectives. Approval is required before any work begins. 

 

Implementation & Migration

Once approved, we get to work. We understand the importance of minimizing disruption, so we do as much of the work as we can, in the background. This includes hiding & cleaning up fields, creating new fields (which are also hidden initially), getting reports & dashboards created, setting up workflows and automations (but not turning them on), etc. The actual migration of data and data cleanup usually occur over a weekend, starting on a Friday afternoon to ensure minimal business interruption. 

 

Communication & Support

Leading up to migration weekend, we are meeting on a weekly basis at a minimum and communicating in between as needed. Then, during migration weekend, we maintain constant contact with a designated representative from your team, providing updates, addressing questions, helping with QA and help handling any issues that may arise. We view every project as a partnership, especially during implementations and migrations. We understand how stressful unexpected issues can be and want you to know that we not only have your best interest at heart but are also prepared for the unexpected.
